Field Notes from NINC: What the Pros Are Talking About Right Now

Every fall, a few hundred working novelists take over a beach resort in Florida for three and a half days of shop talk you rarely hear in public.

NINC (Novelists, Inc.) is a members-only conference for professional authors. There’s an income requirement to get in the door, which means the sessions skip the basics and go straight to contracts, ad spend, pricing, rights, and the decisions that shape a career instead of a single book.

Bestselling authors Lynn Raye Harris and Linda Winstead Jones are going this month, and they’re bringing it back to our October meeting: what the pros are actually paying for, where the industry thinks things are heading, and the hallway conversations that never make it into a slide deck.

Open to visitors. If you write fiction and you’re curious what the professional side of this business looks like right now, come sit in.
